Self-Hygiene, Puberty Awareness and Menstrual Hygiene – Parent Guidance & Support
31-10-2026

Dear Parents,

Greetings of the Day!

Today, we conducted a Self-Hygiene and Puberty Awareness Session for students of Grades 5 to 9. The session covered personal hygiene, menstruation (first period), hair growth, physical changes during adolescence and menstrual hygiene.

A separate session was also conducted for boys to sensitise them about understanding, respecting and supporting girls during menstruation with kindness, sensitivity and empathy.

We request both mothers and fathers to have open and comfortable conversations with their children, both girls and boys, about these natural changes. Such discussions will help children feel informed, confident and comfortable seeking guidance whenever needed.

Kindly ensure that your daughter:

Carries at least one sanitary napkin in her school bag, even before she experiences her first period.

Knows how to use, wrap and dispose of used sanitary napkins hygienically.

Maintains personal hygiene and carries a small disposal pouch, if required.

Our school campus is also equipped with a sanitary napkin disposal machine. Kindly familiarise your ward with its usage so that she can use it whenever needed.

We would also like to bring to your attention that disposing of sanitary napkins or undergarments in commodes can cause blockages. This leads to maintenance work and may require temporary closure of washrooms until the issue is identified and resolved. Students have been instructed to use the designated dustbins and never flush sanitary products or undergarments down the commodes. Kindly show the videos given below.

We seek your cooperation in reinforcing these essential hygiene habits at home. Together, let us nurture a generation of confident, responsible and sensitive individuals who understand, respect and support one another.
