Our school successfully organized a Rabies Awareness Session aimed at educating students about the causes, prevention, and timely treatment of rabies. The session served as an important initiative to spread awareness about this serious yet preventable disease and to encourage safe and healthy practices within the community.
During the session, students were informed about the importance of responsible pet ownership, regular vaccination of pets, and taking immediate action in case of animal bites or scratches. Emphasis was placed on increasing awareness about preventive measures and understanding the correct steps to follow after exposure.
Key messages shared during the program included the following:
Vaccinating pets regularly against rabies
Avoiding contact with stray or wild animals
Never provoking or teasing animals
Washing animal bite or scratch wounds immediately with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes
Seeking immediate medical attention for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) if bitten or scratched
Completing the full course of anti-rabies vaccination as advised by healthcare professionals
Students actively participated in the session and gained valuable knowledge about preventing rabies and promoting community health. The program was a significant step toward building awareness and encouraging responsible behavior for a safer and healthier society.
